Eastern Lycian Way with a light backpack and hotel stays
The Eastern Lycian Way is one of the most scenic sections of the legendary route that runs along the Mediterranean Sea and the Taurus Mountains in southern Turkey. The format of traveling with light backpacks and overnight stays in hotels makes this trek a perfect combination of active adventure and comfort. During the day you carry only essentials — water, snacks, and a camera. In the evening you stay in cozy hotels or guesthouses with a shower, a soft bed, and traditional Turkish cuisine. This hike is suitable for active travelers with basic physical fitness. Daily distances and elevation gain are moderate, while comfortable overnight stays allow you to recover quickly. It’s an excellent option for those who want to try a multi-day trek without extreme нагрузок.

📅 Schedule
Day 1: Antalya — Göynük Canyon
Group meeting at Antalya bus station at 10:00. We transfer to the village of Göynük, leave our вещи at the hotel and go to explore the canyon of the same name. Expect a walk through a narrow mountain gorge, cool turquoise water, natural pools, and waterfalls. Even in hot weather it feels comfortable here, and the fresh Taurus mountain air gives a real reset. In the evening we return for check-in, introductions, and the first tasting of Turkish cuisine. Distance: ~7 km Elevation gain ~500 m, descent similar. Overnight: Göynük.
Day 2: Youth Baths
We send our backpacks with the transfer and enjoy the day. After morning exercises and a delicious breakfast, we hike through pine forests, a mountain pass, and scenic viewpoints in search of the rejuvenating baths, where we stop for lunch and swimming. After shedding a few years while jumping over water and sometimes wading through it, we continue along the canyon to our next overnight stay in comfortable mountain houses on the slope. There we’ll try authentic rural dishes. Distance: ~12 km Elevation gain ~1000 m, descent ~450 m Overnight: Doga camping
Day 3: Gedelme
Today is one of the most pleasant and green sections of the Eastern Lycian Way. The route goes through pine and cedar forests of the Taurus Mountains, gradually climbing from the coast into the mountains. It’s a calm and atmospheric trek with shade, mountain air, and beautiful panoramas. The finish in the village of Gedelme adds character to the day: here you can see an ancient castle, a giant plane tree, and feel the rural atmosphere. Distance: ~13 km Elevation gain ~500 m, descent similar. Overnight: Gedelme
Day 4: Mount Tahtalı Summit 2365 m
We take a prearranged transfer for the first part of the journey to the high-mountain plateau of Çukur-yayla. From there we begin the ascent to the highest point of the trip — the summit of Mount Tahtalı (2365 m). This is a symbol of Eastern Lycia and the climax of the journey, where mountains and sea merge in one view, along with the power of nature and the sense of height. From there we descend by cable car to the sea. Distance: ~4 km Elevation gain ~850 m, descent ~150 m Overnight: Çıralı
Day 5: Çıralı, Olympos, Chimera flames
A relaxed day with lots of sea, tasty ice cream, and Turkish coffee. We also explore the ancient city of Olympos, take an evening walk to the Chimera flames, and enjoy a delicious dinner. Distance: up to 10 km Elevation gain ~150 m, descent ~150 m Overnight: Çıralı
Day 6: Mediterranean Bays
The Tekirova — Çıralı crossing is a day when every step comes with sea views and the trekking turns into a true Mediterranean adventure. During the day we’ll swim in the sea and continue along the Lycian Way. We transfer to Tekirova for the trail start. Distance: ~16 km Elevation gain ~1100 m, descent ~1100 m Overnight: Çıralı
Day 7: Suluada Island
Boat trip day. We transfer to Adrasan for the start. Suluada Island is a perfect addition to our trekking tour, giving the feeling of a true Mediterranean paradise. It’s a small uninhabited island in the Mediterranean Sea, often called the “Turkish Maldives” thanks to its incredibly clear turquoise water and white beaches. Farewell dinner. Overnight: Çıralı
Day 8: Program closing
Breakfast, return to Antalya. Optionally, you can extend your stay for a few days on Çıralı beach.
